PRETTY PEEL-AND-STICK WALLPAPER
BRINGING MY PATTERNS HOME
If you read my journal about Learning to Sew With My Own Patterns, then you’ll know I’ve been starting to bring more of my own artwork into my own home.
I live in cute little Cape Cod house—you can see the coastal vibe in the backdrop of this picture. It’s modern and bright with a lot of windows, which actually makes it the perfect space to bring in more pattern and color.
Since I’m a surface pattern designer, you’d probably think I already have 100s of patterns lining my walls, but not really.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT WALLPAPER FOR MY HOUSE
I’ve collected a handful of favorite art pieces over the years (some done by me and some done by other artists I admire.) But I still have mostly white walls.
That’s partly because I do like the clean gallery-wall look, but also because I just can’t decide!
I usually fall in love with whatever design I’m actively working on. Then, when I start my next project, I’m on to the next, and that one becomes my new favorite. It’s a cycle.
As someone who creates a lot of designs, it makes committing to a permanent wallpaper a seriously hard choice for me!
This year, I’ve partnered with Loomwell, though, and I think that’s helped me start to get out of my indecision loop a bit.
KEEPING IT EASY-TO-INSTALL AND REMOVABLE
If you haven’t heard of Loomwell yet, they’re a small family-owned team that makes removable wallpaper featuring designs by original artists like me.
I have a collection of designs with them, but the one that felt the most at-home in my space right now, is the Maxwell print.
It was very easy-to-install (other than the “help” I got from my two cats) and took me only about 20 minutes for the small project I had planned.
I picked a small space in my kitchen that I wanted to bring a little extra warmth and texture too and used the wallpaper to cover a baseboard on my kitchen island that I’ve never really liked the look of.
I had a little help installing my wallpaper onto the kickboard of my kitchen island. That’s my Cosmo, my new kitten trying to make a mess of things, but the paper held up!

I chose cream for my little kitchen project, but I’m also thinking about the Dusty Blue for another room (we’ll see).
