Creative Product Development
Helping you turn your most creative ideas into real, finished products living out in the world.
Here’s How I can HELP YOU BRING YOUR PRODUCT TO LIFE:
-
If you’re a fellow surface designer who would like to put your patterns on products yourself, you can talk through your ideas with me and get personalized guidance on how to concept and design your idea.
I’ll share my best advice based on my background and experience and how I’d approach things if I were in your shoes.
We can work through your ideas in one in-depth conversation, or we can put together a schedule for a few sessions over a few weeks.
Now Booking for November and December 2026:
$75 per session

If you’re a creative director looking to bring a novelty concept or a creative item to market for your company, I’d love to learn more about your project needs and how I might support your team.
My portfolio showcases the surface designs I currently have available for licensing, but I’d be happy to share my product-development portfolio further by email.
Please email me, and I’d love to connect.
A LITTLE BACK STORY First
Although I love creating original collections for Katie Lyn Designs, a lot of my artwork actually happens behind the scenes as a contract designer for a large, USA-based, home decor importer.
Product development has been a large portion of my creative work for the past 8+ years, and I’ve created illustrations and surface designs that have been picked up by big-box companies across the US. (Let me just say, this is still pretty humbling!)
Everything I create passes through the hands of other designers and project managers, getting little tweaks and adjustments along the way to follow shifting market trends or better suit the preferences of the retailer it’s being pitched to.
While I enjoy getting to own 100% of the creative direction for Katie Lyn Designs, it’s freeing (and a nice balance, I think) to have this other outlet where I work anonymously and part of a larger team.
I get to create commercial artwork that’s never tied to my name or my own artistic style. I can explore different illustration styles, prompt my creativity in new ways, and see how my work can be strengthened (or even just reimagined) in the give-and-take that happens as the team develops the final concepts.
It’s also given a lot of inside knowledge on how to bring a product from idea to reality.

A FEW THINGS YOU MIGHT WANNA KNOW
-
I understand that things do come up! Please let me know within 48 hours of your call time if you’ll need to reschedule, and I’ll be happy to pick a new time together.
-
Please let me know in your inquiry form what your biggest priorities are, and we can work together to tackle those first!
If you feel like you need more time, you can also book additional follow-up sessions.
-
Unfortunately, since your scheduled time (and the prep beforehand) is specifically set aside to support you, no refunds are available for missed appointments.
-
I like to prepare for each call by checking out your website and organizing my thoughts, so I’m ready to be as specific and helpful as possible.
Our chat will be friendly and relaxed, a space for you to pick-my-brain and get help with the questions you’ve always wanted to ask another designer.
If there is anything you’d like to share beforehand, specific questions, designs, or ideas, that context can make our conversation even clearer.
-
If our first call has been supportive for you, and I feel like I can continue to be helpful in consulting with you on your project, you’re welcome to book additional sessions!
